Factory Skatepark, Balunie Drive, Dundee, United Kingdom

    Wed 9 November 2016 – 09:00-11:00

Please join Emma Millar and Stewart Thom from RBS Security who will be educating us with live examples of the threat and impact Cybercrime has on the business world and what steps we must take to protect ourselves.

Overview: In our personal and business lives, fraud continues to be an ever present threat. It has been estimated that 30% of people have been a victim of fraud within the last 12 months and that only 20% of businesses have undertaken any level of staff training to minimise and prevent fraud in the workplace. As technology is becoming increasingly more sophisticated, it is vital we have adequate controls in place to prevent, detect and respond.

Objective: The objective of the session is to promote awareness via case studies of the techniques being used by Fraudsters to target and steal information that supports the techniques that fraudster are using to steal from business and personal customers. This will hopefully support you from being a victim of fraud.

Contents: The session will cover the following areas:

    • Overview of CyberCrime and Fraud
    • Explain how data is obtained easily by Fraudsters.
    • Overview of the main techniques being used to gain access to online banking.
    • Helpful tips on how to protect you business, your family and yourself.
    • Other fraud types e.g. Fraud Redirection.
