Uppertunity was set up in September 2015 as a registered community interest company, with the aim to help individuals of our community to grow and be part of something bigger. Uppertunity offer skills development and social inclusion opportunities for vulnerable individuals in Dundee and surrounding areas.
We aim to provide opportunities to individuals of any background to better themselves and their lives, leading to long term self-reliance. Working with people from vulnerable and isolated groups, Uppertunity looks at the individual’s strengths and possibilities, and then works with them to create long term independence.
I love the different sensory materials, which is great for individuals with sensory impairment
Scribbles promotes new skills through activities, and offers great sensory activities
I’ve met lots of friends. I’ve learned different things like making a jewellery box and xmas card holder…I love coming here!
I like scribbles because I get to learn new ideas and designs of art, and get to try them out
Friendly, great art teachers, a chance to get out in the community and a great place to meet new people
Uppertunity has been running a successful therapeutic art group for adults with learning disabilities since October 2015. We have since expanded to include other groups, each developing various skills and social growth.
Our current classes include a therapeutic art group (Scribbles), an advanced therapeutic art group (Doodles), a therapeutic writing group (Scrawling for the Soul) and a knitting group (Knitting for Change).
Soon, we will be offering a sensory art class (Squiggles) a cooking skills programme (Just a Pinch), a textiles design and making class (Stitched) and a jewellery making class (Totally Beaded). We are very excited for the organisations future.
