TOPIC – Social Enterprise Action Plan 2015 – 2017.

David Martin, Dundee City Council, Chief Executive – How the city council is supporting the development of social enterprise.

Social Investment Scotland – What is social investment, how can it be used, typical costs, grants v loans, why social impact is so important, attitudes to risk.

Date: Wednesday 20th August 2014, Venue: Deaflinks (Tayside Deaf Hub), The Old Mill, 23 Brown Street, Dundee, DD1 5EF (NB: Parking at Bell Street car park)

Time: 10.30 am – 12.00 followed by a networking lunch.

Topic: Property, Property, Property – Subjects covered will include; guidance on taking on a lease and potential pitfalls; advice on when to buy and when to lease, including the pros and cons of each option. Concluding with an update on the process and progress to date of the council’s community Asset Transfer strategy.

Speakers: Derek Tyson – James Keiller Investments, Nicky Donald – Community Ownership Support Scotland (part of DTAS) and Neil Gunn – Chair DCC Community Asset Transfer Steering Group.

A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

DSEN AGM Reminder

 

DSEN AGM – Date Wednesday 28th May 2014 at 11.00 am at the Factory Skatepark.

The speaker will be Alan Watt, Dundee City Council Waterfront Co-ordinator. There will be an update on the plans and a chance to ask questions. The AGM will provide an update on the work of DSEN and an opportunity to find out about the Thematic SENs that Senscot support.  A light lunch will be included so please book your place by emailing admin@dundeesen.org . Members please send any apologies to the AGM to this email as well. Non members are welcome to join us for lunch and the Waterfront presentation at approx midday.   For catering purposes please confirm your attendance by Monday 19th May.

DSEN March Network Meeting

Thursday 19th march, 10.30am-12 midday at Hillcrest Housing Association, 1 Explorer Road, Dundee, DD1 1EG. Speaker –  John Ayscough, BOLD marketing, a specialist in the social enterprise sector. He has worked in the design and advertising industry for 20 years with some of Scotlands larger agencies including Leith Agency, Golly Slater and Tayburn.  Some notable clients include Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Chewits, Glenmorangie and Scottish Government.  Marketing is all about engaging your customer, telling the story that will appeal to them.  This process starts with understanding your identity, the vision you have for your product or service, and how this is articulated through great design.  How can you get the best from all forms of marketing? What support is available?
